Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) announced that prices for the Isuzu D-Max will remain unchanged for current stocks despite the implementation of the excise tax on pickup trucks. This decision allows Filipino buyers to purchase the D-Max at existing prices before adjustments are made once supplies run out.
According to IPC, the excise tax has driven up pickup truck prices across the industry. By maintaining the current price of the D-Max, IPC aims to provide buyers with stability during a period of industry-wide increases. “Now is truly the best time to experience the Isuzu D-Max. As we are treating our customers by holding off price increases on current D-Max stocks while supplies last. This buying season, we encourage customers to experience the strength, dependability, and value that the Isuzu D-Max delivers,” said Robert Carlos, IPC Sales Division Head.
The reimposition of excise tax under the approved Capital Market Efficiency Promotion Act (CMEPA) is a key factor behind the higher costs expected once current stocks run out. The proposal removes the exemption for pickup trucks, requires updated valuation systems, and expands excise coverage, which increases the landed cost of imported vehicles, particularly double-cab pickup trucks. Pickup trucks were originally exempt from excise tax under the TRAIN Law because they were seen as essential for small businesses to transport goods. The Department of Finance later argued that many pickup trucks were being used for personal transport, which undermined the intent of the exemption. As a result, the DOF proposed reinstating taxes ranging from four to 50 percent based on the vehicle’s price. The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. warned that this move would inevitably lead to higher pickup truck prices. As these new rules take full effect, automakers like Isuzu will have to adjust prices to reflect the higher import duties and excise taxes built into their future shipments.
The Isuzu D-Max has built a reputation in the Philippines for durability, fuel efficiency and versatility. It has become a trusted choice for both commercial and personal use, offering a combination of strength and practicality that meets the needs of a wide range of buyers. IPC stated that with stable pricing and refreshed features, it continues to see strong interest from customers looking for a dependable pickup truck.
To further showcase the model, IPC is featuring the Isuzu D-Max in its ongoing Isuzu Xperience Mobility Tour, which is visiting major malls nationwide. The tour gives prospective buyers an opportunity to test drive the vehicle and explore offers such as the ₱35,000 low downpayment option on select variants under the Isuzu D-Max Power Plus Deals promo.
IPC encourages interested customers to visit their nearest dealership or the company website for more information on the D-Max and the promotional activities tied to the current sales period. The company stated that this approach helps Isuzu stay competitive in the pickup market while providing customers added value at a time when costs across the automotive sector are rising.
