Vice President Sara Duterte hit the government anew for having “no stability at all” amid massive reports of corruption in infrastructure projects and the continuous politicking and posturing for the 2028 elections.

“Oh, definitely, there is no stability at all with regard to our government institutions. Hindi lang ngayon (It’s not just now), even before. We saw how they abused the power and the institutions for their gains,” she said during an interview in Davao City on Thursday, Sept. 18.
According to the Vice President, she has long sounded the alarm on how the budget is being corrupted but President Marcos turned a blind eye.
“Kailangan pa lumubog sa baha yung mga kababayan natin bago merong nag-react na BBM ang pangalan. And even then, hindi pa, hindi pa nagtutugma yung kanyang reaction sa dapat niyang gawin (The people needed to be flooded for someone named BBM to react. And even then, his reaction is lackluster),” she stressed.
“Kaya (That’s why) really, truly, our economy is not in the very best,” Duterte furthered.
The official explained that the economy is in shambles because there was no vision, direction, and plan, and officials are more focused on pocketing funds and on the next elections than serving the people.
She pointed to the lack of big-ticket infrastructure projects and the “substandard” quality of the existing ones.
“Hindi ganyan na klase na mga projects ang gusto natin na nakikita sa bayan (That’s not the kind of projects that we want to see in our country),” she said.
Sept. 21 rallies: VP in Japan
Meanwhile, Duterte shared that she will be flying to Japan tonight to attend rallies organized by the Filipino communities in Tokyo and Nagoya.
She maintained the importance of these rallies and the need for her to attend because these were prepared in advance.
“Hindi ko siya pwedeng i- postpone dahil madami sa kanila ang nag-ayos ng kanilang day off, madami sa kanila ang nagbiyahe pa papuntang Tokyo at saka Nagoya at madami sa kanila ang gumastos na ng mga hotels nila so hindi ito pwedeng ipagpaliban in any event (I cannot postpone it because they already scheduled this for their day off, and many of them traveled to Tokyo and Nagoya and a lot of them spent on hotels, so it cannot be postponed in any event),” she stressed.
“Para din naman na ito sa bayan dahil ito ay double na pananawagan (This is also for the country because we are calling for two things),” the Vice President said, sharing that Filipinos abroad are rallying against corruption and calling for the release of former president Rodrigo Duterte from detention.
Asked if she plans to visit her father once more, the Vice President said there is no immediate plans for now, but she would like to visit soon because the Duterte patriarch have been quite moody lately.
“At tinanong ko si Kitty anong nangyayari, bakit walang mga tawag. At sinasabi daw ni President Duterte ay ayaw niya daw yung frustration niya na wala siyang magawa sa mga pangyayari (And I asked Kitty what’s happening, why isn’t he calling. She said that [former] president Duterte is becoming frustrated because he cannot do anything with what’s happening),” she shared.
