Zamboanga, Isabela cities log 13 dengue fatalities

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Thirteen persons died from dengue from January to August this year in this city and Isabela City, Basilan province.
Zamboanga City Medical Center Information Officer Dr. Shadrina Sarapuddin said that the fatalities were seven minors and five adults.
A total of 236 patients were admitted this year for dengue, a slight increase from the 208 reported in the same period last year.
In the first two weeks of September, the ZCMC recorded six cases while 23 were recorded in August and 24 for July.
Sarapuddin said that the highest number of dengue cases were recorded in the rainy months of March to April.
She called on people to maintain cleanliness to eliminate breeding places of mosquitoes and immediately seek medical advice once dengue symptoms are observed.
