Majority Leader Ilocos Norte 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos has called on Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co to come back home to the Philippines and face the music.
"I’ll be the first one to tell you that he should come home and face any and all allegations agianst him," Marcos said in a chance interview Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 17 when asked whether or not he would tell the controversial lawmaker to come home.
Co was the chairman of the Committee on Appropriations in the previous 19th Congress. The national budget during the final year of the 19th Congress--the P6.352-trillion 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA)--was allegedly rife with "insertions".
Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Alfredo Garbin Jr. confirmed last week that Co had a heart ailment and was receiving treatment in the United States (US).
Asked if the House of Representatives can force Co to report back to work, Marcos said: "I do not know if that is something we can do as a body but again I think he should come home and face the allegations against him."
"It's too severe and its dragging the House in the mud," the presidential son added, mincing no words.
Marcos further noted that an ethics complaint could be pursued against Co if he refuses to retun home.
