A 52-year-old man was arrested after choking his live-in partner with a wooden stick (arnis) and threatening to kill her during an argument in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Antipolo City on Tuesday night, Sept. 16.
The Antipolo City Component Police Station (Antipolo CCPS) reported that the suspect, identified as "Mil,” and the victim figured in a heated argument at around 7:30 p.m.
During the altercation, the suspect allegedly slapped the victim on the left cheek. When the victim fought back by grabbing his shirt, the suspect choked her with the wooden stick.
She pushed him away, but the suspect choked her again with his hands, making it hard for her to breathe until she managed to kick him and free herself.
However, the suspect suddenly drew out a firearm, pointed it at her head, and said, “Papatayin kita (I will kill you).”
At that moment, the victim hit the suspect's hand, causing the gun to fall. She kicked him again, making him lose balance, which allowed her to escape and seek assistance from the authorities.
Police arrested the suspect and recovered a .38 caliber revolver loaded with four live bullets. He is now under police custody and facing charges for violating Republic Act 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act) and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
