Korean series 'Bon Appétit, Your Majesty' rises to No. 1 on Netflix

The popular Korean series “Bon Appétit, Your Majesty,” starring actress Yoona and actor Lee Chae-min, rose to the No. 1 spot on Netflix in its fourth week in the top 10. 

Netflix released the rankings for its official weekly Global Top 10 of the most watched English and non-English shows and films on the platform for the period Sept. 8 to 14. 

“Bon Appétit, Your Majesty” rose to No. 1 from No. 2 last week on the non-English shows list, garnering 6.8 million views from Sept. 8 to 14 and placing in the top 10 in 65 countries and territories, including No. 1 in nine. 

The series is No. 1 in the Philippines, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Qatar, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam. 

In South Korea, where it is No. 1 in the ratings, “Bon Appétit, Your Majesty” is No. 2 on Netflix. (“Queen Mantis” is No. 1).

Last week's Netflix rankings for Sept. 1 to 7 showed “Bon Appétit, Your Majesty” at No. 2 with 7.5 million views and placing in the top 10 in 73 countries and territories, including No. 1 in eight. 

For the period Aug. 25 to 31, the K-drama was No. 2 with 8.1 million views and No. 1 in 29 countries and territories, and in the top 10 in 44. 

“Bon Appétit, Your Majesty” debuted on Netflix’s Global Top 10 for the period Aug. 18 to 24 at No. 4 with 3.5 million views and placing in the top 10 in 50 countries and territories. 

On the other hand, the Filipino film “Kontrabida Academy,” starring Eugene Domingo and Barbie Forteza, debuted at No. 6 on Netflix’s non-English films list with 1.5 million views. It is the No. 1 film on Netflix in the Philippines for the period and in the top 10 in Qatar and United Arab Emirates.
