Bulacan State University suspends onsite classes on Sept. 18-19 due to transport strike
In view of the announced transport strike and a careful assessment of its potential impact on student attendance and participation, all classes at Bulacan State University will shift to online synchronous mode on Sept. 18 to 19.
This decision followed a dialogue between the Office of the Student Regent and the University Administration, resulting in the issuance of Office Memorandum No. 44, Series of 2025.
The memorandum, addressed to all concerned, was issued by Warlito M. Galita, OIC–Vice President for Academic Affairs. It mandates the transition of onsite classes to online synchronous sessions and the rescheduling of midterm examinations.
The measure aims to alleviate student concerns regarding their ability to physically attend classes and exams during the transport strike.
Midterm examinations originally scheduled on the affected dates will be moved to Sept. 23 to 26.
The memorandum also outlines guidelines for faculty and staff.
The memorandum was signed by Galita and BSU President Teody C. San Andres.
The nationwide transport strike on Sept. 18 was announced by Piston as a protest against alleged corruption in the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Meanwhile, in anticipation of the strike’s effects on Sept. 17, the Bulacan 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, led by Major Norheda Gilman-Usman, conducted “Libreng Sakay” along MacArthur Highway from Malolos City to Calumpit to assist affected passengers.
The initiative is part of the police’s continuing public service to ensure the safety and welfare of citizens during disruptions in public transportation.
