Isabela 6th district Rep. Faustino "Bojie" Dy III emerged as the new House Speaker during plenary session Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Dy replaced Leyte 1st district Rep. Martin Romualdez, who resigned as Speaker just 52 days into the current 20th Congress.
Benitez, Tiangco, and Frasco all opposed Romualdez' speakership for one reaon or another, but they opted not to join the minority bloc.
In Wednesday's Speakership vote, all three expressed their support for Dy--a gesture that technically made them part of the majority bloc.
It remains to be seen whether or not the three veteran legislators would be given committee chairmanships and other plum post under the new House leadership.
Administering Dy's oath as new Speaker Wednesday was Benitez's son, Negros Occidental 3rd district Rep. Javier Miguel "Javi" Benitez.
Javi, 30, is one of the youngest members of the 20th Congress. He is also an assistant majority leader.
