Adamson University held a candlelight vigil on Wednesday, September 17, in a symbolic stand against corruption and in preparation for the upcoming Trillion-Peso March Against Corruption.
The event took place at 5 p.m. along the SV Facade on San Marcelino Street, drawing students, faculty, and staff.
Attendees were encouraged to wear white as a symbol of unity and commitment to justice and transparency.
Standing united against corruption, the Adamson community staged a Solidarity Walk and Solemn Candle Ceremony, calling for transparency, accountability, and justice amid the ongoing flood control fund controversy.
Students, faculty, administrators, the Office for Student Affairs (OSA), the Adamson University Student Government (AUSG), and Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) stood side by side to reaffirm the University’s Vincentian mission, to uphold integrity, demand accountability, and work for the common good, especially for the poor and disadvantaged.
Organized by AUSG, the vigil aimed to raise awareness and show institutional support for anti-corruption efforts amid growing national concern over alleged misuse of public funds.
“This was a symbolic act to show that the Adamson community stands for truth and accountability,” AUSG President Paul Fabia said in a statement following the event.
The vigil also served as a lead-up to the university’s participation in the Trillion Peso March scheduled for Saturday, September 21, at the EDSA People Power Monument.
Adamson University will be sending a delegation to the protest, joining other academic institutions, advocacy groups, and concerned citizens.
To assist participants, the university will provide transportation.
Volunteers are advised to gather at the SV Grounds at 11:30 a.m. on the day of the event.
