Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the city government values the equal rights of every resident, especially those with special needs.
Olivarez reminded the city residents that the use of PWD IDs for the registration of “HELP card” will undergo a strict verification with the help of the Persons with Disability Affairs Office and the Information Technology Development Department of the city government.
He explained that under Republic Acts 7277, 9442, and 10754, anyone who abuses these privileges shall face imprisonment of not less than six (6) months or a fine of not less than ₱5,000, but not more than ₱50,000, or both, at the discretion of the court.
The mayor issued the warning after the city government announced the rollout of the HELP card which will prioritize PWDs and senior citizens.
Olivarez said the issuance of the HELP card will ensure a unified form of identification to be honored at city hospitals, educational institutions, discounts, and various forms of assistance.
