The city government of Las Piñas City distributed the solo parent purchase booklet to around 800 beneficiaries in the city as part of the city government’s commitment to providing care, recognition, and protection to them.
Las Piñas City Mayor April Aguilar was joined by City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) head Lowefe Romulo in the distribution of the purchase booklet held at the Aguilar Sports Complex in Barangay Pilar.
Aguilar said the event also showed the city government’s support for single parents in raising their families, to ease the burden on them, and to ensure their children’s welfare.
Romulo explained the benefits for solo parents which include a comprehensive package of social protection services, educational support, automatic PhilHealth coverage, and a 10% discount on essential needs such as baby products and prescribed medicines for children aged 6-years and below.
The mayor said the program is in recognition of the sacrifices and hard work of solo parents who shoulder the full responsibility of raising their families.
Aguilar said that each participant, after receiving their booklet, also received three kilograms of rice.
She encouraged solo parents in the city who have not yet applied for the purchase booklet to register.
