Leisure-focused developments such as golf communities are increasing in numbers, particularly outside the National Capital Region. Across the country, there are more than 80 golf courses with world-class features such as tropical environments and elevation blends that were mostly built pre-2000.
One of the first gated golf communities in the country, Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club, features two Jack Nicklaus championship courses that were launched in the early 1990s. Known for its elevated terrain, Tagaytay Highland International Golf Club, Inc. was designed by golf architect Richard Bigler and began operations in 1994. Opened in December 2013, Anvaya Cove Golf and Sports Club’s coastal layout and scenic seaside courses were designed by Kevin Ramsey of Golfplan-Dale and Ramsey and developed by Ayala Land.
After the Covid pandemic, the number of golf courses continued to increase in response to the demand for green spaces and leisure-themed residential properties. More than just a sport, golf is becoming a feature of an elevated lifestyle, attracting the younger demographic. Playing golf comes with a casual social atmosphere and laid-back environment that appeals to the young market segment of Millennials and Gen Zs. They often visit golf entertainment venues in pursuance of physical activity, social interaction and networking, and connection to nature.
Outside Metro Manila, several developers are keen on developing golf communities with renowned architects and professional golf players leading the development of courses that are integrated into residential properties catering to elevated and luxury lifestyles.

In January 2025, Villar Group and Curley-Wagner Golf Design signed an agreement to design the first tournament-grade, 18-hole golf course in Villar City, a planned urban development in southern Metro Manila. The architects designed the tournament-grade golf course with wide fairways and natural features like meadows, rolling terrain, and streams to accommodate professional tournaments and events. As an integral part of the planned 8,650-acre development, the course will be fitted with practice facilities, a putting course, and a short game area.

In November, Lima Estate will be opening its second venture in building golf communities, The Golf Range at Lima Estate. Situated in Batangas’ first master-planned central business district, the Biz Hub at Lima Estate, a one-hectare facility, will feature 24 driving bays, a café, and professional coaching services, catering to both golf enthusiasts and newcomers. Developed by Partners and Properties, Inc., the world-class golf course will become an integral part of the lifestyle, commercial, and residential amenities available across the estate, complementing the residential community.
The last quarter of the year will also mark the opening of the Jack Nicklaus Golf Course and the Golf and Country Club at Hann Reserve, a 450-hectare luxury estate development in New Clark City, Tarlac. It is the first of the three 18-hole golf courses in the master plan that includes ultra-luxury villa residences and condominium towers, lifestyle commercial centers, a casino, and a 10-hectare public park.
The second course, designed by Korean golfer KJ Choi, is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2027, and the third, the river course, was designed by Sir Nick Faldo. The golf courses will come with the only PGA-affiliated player development facilities in the country.
