A total of 24 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from the Quezon City Jail Female Dormitory (QCJFD) completed the Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship course, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said.
During the graduation ceremony for the second batch of PDL graduates, the QCJFD said eight graduates were already released but still attended the ceremony with 16 other graduates.
The BJMP noted that the occasion not only celebrated academic achievement but also highlighted the enduring partnership between the QCJFD, Quezon City University (QCU) and the Quezon City Government in championing education as a pathway to transformation.
Likewise, the QCJFD commended the Quezon City government for its “No Woman Left Behind” program, which continues to empower women PDL with opportunities for growth, dignity and second chances.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, QCJFD warden Chief Insp. Lourvina Abrazado, QCJFD assistant jail warden Insp. Concepcion Bacolod, QCU president Theresita Atienza among others welcomed the graduates.
