Manila LGU issues traffic advisory over Dimasalang Bridge rehab
The Manila City government issued a traffic rerouting scheme on Monday, Sept. 15, following the temporary closure of the southbound lane of Dimasalang Bridge to allow for rehabilitation works.
"Ngayong araw ay magsisimula ang pansamantalang pagsasara ng Dimasalang Bridge para sa malawakang rehabilitasyon at major repair na isasagawa ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) na tatagal hanggang December 15, 2025 (The temporary closure of the Dimasalang Bridge for extensive rehabilitation and major repairs to be carried out by the Department of Public Works and Highways will begin today and will last until December 15, 2025)," the Manila Public Information Office (PIO) said.
Layunin nito ang mas ligtas at mas maginhawang biyahe patungong A. Bonifacio Avenue, North Cemetery, Chinese General Hospital hanggang LRT Abad Santos, at LRT Avenida (The goal is to provide safer and more convenient travel to A. Bonifacio Avenue, North Cemetery, Chinese General Hospital to LRT Abad Santos, and LRT Avenida)," it added.
It also advised motorists to look for alternative routes and allocate more than enough time for their travels as heavy traffic is expected in the area.
According to the DPWH, the bridge's rehabilitation project includes the retrofitting of piers and abutments, replacement of concrete girders with high quality steel girders, and the construction of a new redecking slab.
