A Low Pressure Area (LPA), along with easterlies, is expected to bring rains over parts of Luzon and the Visayas on Monday, September 15.
As of 3 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA was located 235 kilometers west of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.
The weather disturbance, combined with easterlies, is forecast to bring rain to several parts of the country.
Weather forecast
PAGASA said the LPA will continue to affect Luzon and parts of the Visayas.
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected in Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Western Visayas due to the LPA. Flash floods and landslides are possible from moderate to occasionally heavy rains, PAGASA said.
In Cagayan Valley, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are also expected due to easterlies. Flooding and landslides may occur during heavy rainfall, the agency warned.
Meanwhile, localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms to the rest of the country. Severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides.
Wind and coastal water conditions
Moderate winds from the east with moderate coastal waters (1.2 to 2.1 meters) are expected in extreme Northern Luzon, PAGASA said.
Light to moderate winds from east to northeast with slight to moderate seas (0.6 to 1.5 meters) will prevail over central and the rest of northern Luzon.
The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds from southwest to southeast with slight to moderate seas (0.6 to 1.2 meters).
PAGASA advised residents in affected areas to remain alert for possible flash floods and landslides. Fisherfolk and those with small sea vessels are also urged to take precautionary measures when venturing into coastal waters.
