Vice President Sara Duterte has paid tribute to all Filipino reservists for their commitment in serving the country despite their duties in their respective fields.
"Becoming a reservist requires great sacrifice and a sincere regard for the well-being of fellow citizens during emergencies, disasters, and crises," Duterte said on Saturday, Sept. 13, in her message during the 46th National Reservist Week.
"We salute the valiant men and women of the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) Reserve Force who demonstrate commitment in sharing their civilian lives for national service," she added.
The Vice President further recognized the reservists for their willingness and dedication to serve our country despite their other responsibilities in their chosen fields or sectors of society.
She hoped that Filipino reservists continue to remember to take the lead in fighting for the truth for the sake of democracy.
"Bilang isa ring reservist, umaasa ako na lagi nating tatandaan na kailangan nating manguna para ipaglaban ang tama at katotohanan sa ating paglilingkod sa bansa. Protektahan natin ang ating demokrasya at isulong ang ating mga karapatan (As a fellow reservist, I hope that we always remember that we need to take the lead in fighting for what is right and true in our service to the nation. Let us protect our democracy and advance our rights)," Duterte said in her message.
She also encouraged reservists to continue to serve as an inspiration to more young people by being good examples of love for country and steadfast effort for the welfare of the Filipino people.
