BACOLOD CITY – To strengthen law enforcement and enhance public safety, Mayor Rowena Lizares has announced the establishment of three new police substations in strategic locations in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Lizares highlighted the urgency of improving security following a string of violent incidents last month where five bodies were discovered in three separate locations.
The new outposts in container vans will be located in Barangays Dos Hermanas and Concepcion, two of the city’s most populated areas, as well as on the national highway linking Bacolod and Talisay.
These locations were selected to help secure increasing access points into the city, particularly with the opening of new expressways connecting Bacolod and Murcia.
Only two of the victims, both found in Barangay Concepcion on Aug. 11, have been identified.
The bodies of a man and a woman discovered in Barangay Dos Hermanas on Aug. 29, along with another body discovered in Barangay Matab-ang on Aug. 11, remain unidentified.
Lizares said the city will mobilize force multipliers, including barangay tanods and members of the Citizens Crime Watch, to support the police.
The mayor instructed Police Col. Alvin Christopher Baybayan, Talisay police chief, to ramp up law enforcement operations citywide and assured the public that the local government is fully backing the ongoing investigations.
