Gabriela Party-list nominee Sarah Elago has thanked the group's supporters for standing by them following the initial result of 2025 mid-term polls, which saw it miss the winners' circle.

On Sunday, Sept. 14, reports from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said that Gabriela Party-list will be proclaimed as the 64th winning party-list. This will give Elago a seat in the House of Representatives this 20th Congress.

"Taos-puso kaming nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng mga nagtitiwala at sa walang humpay na pangangalampag ng mga kababaihan, LGBTQIA+, kabataan, at iba’t ibang sumusuporta para maiproklama na ang Gabriela Women’s Party bilang tunay, palaban, at makabayang kinatawan ng kababaihan sa Kongreso," she said in a statement Sunday afternoon.

(We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have placed their trust in us and to the relentless efforts of women, LGBTQIA+, youth, and various supporters to proclaim Gabriela Women’s Party as a genuine, courageous, and patriotic representative of women in Congress.)

With Elago's expected entry to the House, the militant Makabayan bloc will gain a third seat in the 300-plus strong chamber.

Earlier sworn in as congressmen were ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. Antonio Tinio and Kabataan Party-list Rep. Renee Co.

Elago, a former Kabataan solon, slammed the faulty party-list system for depriving the legislature of true marginalized representation.

"Dahil sa bulok na sistema at pamamayagpag ng mga pekeng party-list na ginagamit lamang ang puwesto para sa pansariling interes, napakahirap ng laban para sa mga tunay na marhinalisadong boses ng mamamayan—subalit hindi nagpapatinag ang mga kababaihan kahit pilit pang tinatanggalan ng boses sa Kongreso," she said.

(Because of the rotten system and the dominance of fake party-lists that use their positions for personal gain, the fight has been extremely difficult for the truly marginalized voices of the people—but women remain undeterred even as they are persistently silenced in Congress.)

Elago vowed to fight for women's rights in various levels of society.

"Mula sa lansangan hanggang sa Kongreso, bibitbitin natin ang panawagan ng kababaihan para sa nakabubuhay na sahod, ligtas na trabaho at kabuhayan, pagpapababa ng presyo ng bigas, langis, at utilidad, abot-kamay na edukasyon at kalusugan, tunay na reporma sa lupa at pangisdaan, at paglaban sa lahat ng anyo ng karahasan at diskriminasyon," she said.

(From the streets to the halls of Congress, we will carry the call of women for living wages, safe jobs and livelihoods, lower prices of rice, oil, and utilities, accessible education and healthcare, genuine land and fisheries reform, and the fight against all forms of violence and discrimination.)

She further said: "Nanawagan kami na agad ng iproklama ang Gabriela Women’s Party—lalo na sa kritikal na panahon ngayon sa paglaban sa korapsyon at dapat na paglalaan ng kailangang pondo sa kalusugan, edukasyon, serbisyong panlipunan, lokal na agrikultura, at industriya gayundin sa mga makakalikasan at makamasang solusyon sa pagbaha."
