Medalya ng Papuri awarded to Bacolod cop injured in drug bust mishap
BACOLOD CITY – The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) recognized the exemplary performance and bravery of an anti-drug operative injured in a road accident during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mansilingan here on Thursday, Sept. 11.

Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, PRO-NIR director, awarded the Medalya ng Papuri or Philippine National Police (PNP) Commendation Medal to Police Staff Sgt. Mark Loui Soriba during his visit to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center in Barangay Taculing here on Sunday, Sept. 14.
Ibay lauded the heroism and gallantry of Soriba, stressing that such dedication embodies the ideals of service, honor, and sacrifice of every police officer in the fight against illegal drugs.
According to the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), Soriba was among the operatives who led a successful buy-bust operation in Barangay Mansilingan on Sept. 11, that resulted in the arrest of Joefer, a known drug personality, and recovery of P136,000 worth of suspected shabu.
During the operation, Soriba was injured after he was accidentally hit by a car driven by a 55-year-old man who allegedly dozed off. Soriba's colleague andJoefer also sustained minor injuries.
“Despite this, his commitment and dedication contributed significantly to the success of the police operation,” the BCPO said.
Police Col. Joeresty Coronica, BCPO director, and Police Capt. Dax Santillan, head of Police Station 7, assisted Ibay during the visit.
