ILOILO CITY – Police recently confiscated weapons, vapes, and other prohibited materials from more than 50 high school students in Pototan town, Iloilo province.
The Pototan Municipal Police Station conducted a random inspection in an unnamed secondary school after parents, faculty, and staff feared violent incidents.
Students yielded weapons such as knives and brass knuckles and lighters and vapes.
“These findings are alarming and highlight the growing need for stronger parental guidance, values formation, and consistent monitoring of our children both at home and in school,” said Major Bryan Alamo, Pototan police chief.
“We strongly urge all parents and schools to remain vigilant and proactive. This incident is a wakeup call. These things are happening, and we must work together to address them before they lead to more serious consequences,” added Alamo.
The Department of Education (DepEd) and the school are closely coordinating with parents of students caught with contraband.
