2 dead, 100 families affected as tornado rips thru Daet in Camarines Norte
LEGAZPI CITY – Two people were killed and over 100 families were affected by a tornado that struck Daet, Camarines Norte early Sunday morning, Sept. 14.
Aivin Naing, emergency operations manager of the MDRRMO Camarines Norte, said the fatalities were a 13-year-old boy and his 37-year-old auntie.
Naing said the victims were about to open their store when the tornado hit around 5 a.m.
Strong winds toppled a 20-year-old mahogany tree which fell and crushed them.

The tornado cut a path about one kilometer long and lasted for two to three minutes.
Residents reported heavy rainfall and clouds appeared to descend before the tornado formed.
Barangays Bibirao and Magang were the hardest hit. No evacuation was ordered as residents immediately began repairing their damaged homes, Naing said.
Local disaster officials continue to monitor the situation and assess the extent of the damage. Assistance will be provided to affected families.
