Zack Tabudlo, Miguel and Paolo of Ben&Ben join The Voice Kids
Asia's Limitless Star Julie Anne San Jose and international singer, dancer, and host Billy Crawford welcomed hitmaker, singer-songwriter, and producer Zack Tabudlo, along with Miguel and Paolo, the twin members of the popular band Ben&Ben, as the first-ever Double Chair coaches on The Voice Kids, which will premiere on Sunday, Sept. 14.
Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes returns as host of the program.
Each team promises its own distinct flavor: Julesquad with Coach Julie, Team Bilib with Coach Billy, Project Z with Coach Zach, and Benkada with Coaches Paolo and Miguel.
Having competed himself, Zack admits that being a coach feels surreal, “I wasn’t really prepared. There’s an overwhelming feeling coming into the studio for the first time. You can’t really prepare for things like this, especially if you never really expected it.”
Meanwhile, Miguel and Paolo are grateful for the opportunity to guide the young hopefuls while sharing their own musical journey, “Humingi rin kami ng advice kung paano ba pag ganito ang situation, paano mo sasabihin, what are the right words to use. But as long as the intention ay maibahagi yung mas makakabuti sa buhay nila, kahit papaano ay lumalabas yung mga tamang salita. (We also asked for advice on what to do in a situation like this, how to say it, what are the right words to use. But as long as the intention is to share what is best for their lives, somehow the right words will come out.)"
During a media conference at GMA Network, Julie Anne recalled the lessons learned when she competed and lost time in the reality singing program "Popstar Kids" in 2005.
"It hurt me a lot. Bata pa ako kasi noon and hindi ko alam kung ano ang mangyayari sa akin. Hindi ba ako magaling? Ipagpapatuloy ko pa ba ito kasi natalo ako eh. Deserving pa ba ako na magkaroon ng spot sa industry kasi natalo ako. (Iwas still young then, and I didn't know what would happen to me. Am I not good enough? Should I continue doing this because I lost? Do I still deserve to have a spot in the industry because I lost?)," Julie Anne said. "It took time for me to heal from that."
Julie Anne stated that she did not give up and continued to pursue her dream of making it in showbiz.
"Nagpursige ako, and I did not stop, even though I had other priorities. Sinabi ko sa sarili ko na, 'Lord, kung ito ang plano mo sa akin, ito ang gagawin ko. So tumatak sa akin yun. (I persevered, and I did not stop, even though I had other priorities. I told myself, 'Lord, if this is your plan for me, this is what I will do. So that stuck with me)," she added. "So doon na ako dinala ako ni Lord. Maraming beses na rin na nagkaroon ako ng crisis sa career pero dito pa rin talaga ako ni Lord dinadala. So I guess para sa showbiz talaga ako. (So that's where the Lord brought me. I've had many career crises, but the Lord still brought me here. So I guess I'm really meant for showbiz.)"
In mentoring, Julie Anne hopes to be collaborative with the kids so that their relationships will be smooth.
"Ayoko naman na may ipapagawa ako sa kanila na hindi sila comfortable or nahihiya silang magsabi sa akin kaya importante na maging open kami sa kanila na parang ate nila ako or mga kuya naman sila. So sana sabihin nila kung meron silang ayaw gawin or kung may mga question sila. (I don't want to make them do something they're not comfortable with or are embarrassed to tell me about, so it's important that we be open with them as if I were their older sister or they were their older brothers. So I hope they tell me if there's something they don't want to do or if they have questions)," she added.
Billy shared what he wanted to teach children during the competition.
"I want to teach them that all problems will always have solutions. So that's one life lesson I wanted to teach them," he said.
Beyond the powerhouse coaching line-up, viewers can look forward to a fresh batch of young artists from all over the country, battling it out in the show’s signature blind auditions and battle rounds.
Catch the premiere of “The Voice Kids” this Sunday, Sept. 14, 7 p.m. on GMA Network.
