Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso on Saturday, September 13, continued his rounds of city facilities, starting with an inspection at the Pedro Gil Health Center to ensure the availability of medicines and proper upkeep of the facility for residents seeking medical care.
After the visit, the mayor proceeded to the Pedro Gil Residences, one of the flagship housing projects of the city government.
The modern residential complex, designed to provide safe and decent living conditions, now serves as a permanent home for former informal settlers of Manila.
During his inspection, Domagoso highlighted the project’s goal of giving families not just shelter, but dignity and security.
“Hindi lang ito simpleng pabahay. Isa itong pamumuhunan para sa kinabukasan ng mga Manileño, para sa mas maayos na pamumuhay, mas ligtas na komunidad, at mas makatarungang lipunan (This is not just ordinary housing. It is an investment in the future of Manileños, for a better life, safer communities, and a more just society) ,” the mayor said.
The housing initiative is part of the city government’s broader effort to relocate families from hazardous areas into sustainable and humane communities.
