DAVAO CITY – Sultan Kudarat Gov. Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu has ordered an intensified campaign against unauthorized use of sirens and blinkers to ensure public safety in the province.
Mangudadatu issued the directive following the confiscation of at least 60 illegal blinkers and high-powered LED lights and sirens from motorists since July 1 to Sept. 11 in various checkpoints across the province.
The illegal blinkers sirens were seized by the Sultan Kudarat Police Provincial Office (SKPPO), with the Highway Patrol Group and the 1st and 2nd Mobile Force Companies.
They were presented during the Joint Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), and Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) third quarter meeting at the provincial capitol on Thursday, Sept. 11.
The governor bared that most of the apprehended motorists were not from Sultan Kudarat but from neighboring provinces who were just passing through.
“Sabi ko sa ating kapulisan, kung walang batas doon sa inyo, pag dumaan kayo ng Sultan Kudarat, merong batas dito,” Mangudadatu said.
(We have laws here in Sultan Kudarat)

Mangudadatu reiterated his appeal to motorists to obey traffic rules while in the province.
He commended police for enforcing the law for the safety of not just motorists but also other road users.
SKPPO chief Police Col. Bernard Lao vowed to sustain the crackdown to ensure road safety and discipline among motorists. “We will sustain these operations to instill discipline and ensure safety on our roads.”
Lao appealed to residents of the province to report violators and reminded motorists that illegal road devices are prohibited under Presidential Decree 96. Aside from law enforcement agencies, PD 96 also allows ambulances to use these devices.
