Mayor Emi visits Japan to strengthen sister city partnership

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano visited the City of Narita, Japan, to strengthen their sister city partnership and promote cooperation in various fields.
Rubiano was warmly welcomed by Mayor Kazunari Koizum, Vice Mayors Yoichi Miyata and Shinji Fukushima, and the entire city government of Narita.
She held discussions with them on cultural exchange, educational opportunities, economic and trade cooperation, governance and best practices, and people-to-people diplomacy.
The mayor said that under the cultural exchange, they discussed student exchange programs, art, exhibits, tourism promotion, and cultural festivals, while for the education opportunities, the two countries discussed the scholarship and exchange programs for students and teachers and collaborative research by universities and schools.
Rubiano said they also discussed business partnership and investment, introduction of local products to the international market, and exploring joint ventures and tourism opportunities under the economic and trade cooperation. On good governance and best practices, they exchanged knowledge on urban planning, disaster risk reduction, traffic management, waste management and official study visits to learn the best practices of the sister city.
She said people-to-people diplomacy will entail a strong, deepening friendship and mutual trust between the two countries.
The mayor said the visit reflects the city’s commitment to strengthening international relations and pushing for innovative projects that will improve the quality of life for Pasayeños.
