In gracing the tournament, the President did the ceremonial serve before the game opener started on Friday night at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The President arrived at the venue around 6:30 p.m. clad in a Philippine team shirt.
He was accompanied by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and their sons William Vincent and Joseph Simon during the game opener.
The Philippines is the sole host of the 32-nation FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship, scheduled from Sept.12 to 28.
The event was organized by a local organizing committee formed by the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF).
Before the games officially began, Filipino artists—P-pop group G22 and Karencitta—and K-pop group BOYNEXTDOOR took the stage to perform their hits before the Filipino crowd.
