Cops recover P9.2-M smuggled cigarettes in Misamis Oriental
BUTUAN CITY – Police seized smuggled cigarettes valued at P9.2 million in Laguindingan town, Misamis Oriental province following a tip from an informant on Wednesday night, Sept. 10.
“After our ground force received the positive information, they immediately swooped down in a reported area and also nabbed two suspects,” Police Regional Office 10-Regional Public Information Office (PRO 10-RPIO) chief Police Major Joan G. Navarro said.
“Based on background and intelligence gathering by our operatives, the arrested suspects are allegedly known distributors and transporters of smuggled cigarettes within that province,” Navarro said.
Seized items are under the custody of the Laguindingan MPS for documentation prior to turnover to the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition.
PRO-10 Director Brig. Gen. Rolindo M. Suguilon commended operating units and the informant.
