Cavite PNP reminds public to keep assemblies peaceful, orderly
The Cavite Police Provincial Office (Cavite PPO) said it is committed to upholding the constitutional right of citizens to peaceably assemble and express their views on matters of public concern but asked that these be conducted peacefully.
In a statement released on Friday, Sept. 12, the Cavite PPO emphasized the need for assemblies to be conducted peacefully and within legal bounds.

“In the exercise of this right, we remind the public that assemblies must be conducted peacefully and orderly, with due regard to the rights and freedoms of others, and in compliance with existing laws and regulations,” the statement read.
“The PNP assures the public that police personnel will be deployed to maintain peace and order, ensure the safety of participants, and protect the general public.”
The Cavite PPO also stated that it will provide assistance and coordinate with organizers to ensure that assemblies are held without untoward incidents.
They encouraged citizens who will participate in assemblies to cooperate with the authorities as the latter works to safeguard democratic freedoms while protecting the general public.

Department of the Interior and Local Government Sec. Jonvic Remulla had earlier underscored that he does not foresee the Philippines falling into a similar situation as Nepal and Indonesia, where recent protests spiraled into instability. He acknowledged the people’s constitutional right to hold peaceful assemblies but assured that authorities will act to prevent protests from turning into unrest.
