With a simple deletion of their Facebook posts targeted at each other, the tiff between Bicol Saro Party-list Rep. Terry Ridon and Senator Jinggoy Estrada has become a thing of the past.
Ridon, in an interview with Headstart on Friday, Sept. 12, confirmed that he and Estrada have buried the hatchet and decided to "move on" from their mini-word war.
“I think as of last night (Thursday), Senator Jinggoy has already taken down his post, and I have taken down my post as well because through intermediaries," Ridon said.
"We just decided to just finish the problem and move on to more important things to serve the nation,” noted the overall chairman of House Infrastructure Committee (infra comm).
Estrada's erstwhile Facebook post, which rubbed Ridon the wrong way, featured the yearbook photos of two young boys. One was Ridon's, and the other was that of infra comm witness Brice Ericson Hernandez.
Ridon made several posts in reply, but his main complaint was the exposure of his personal details on the photos shared by Estrada.
Also on Thursday night, Ridon--during a budget hearing at the House of Representatives--received a confirmation from National Privacy Commission (NPC) Deputy Commissioner John Henry Naga that he can indeed pursue charges against Estrada for possible violation of the Privacy Act.
But these all seem water under the bridge now.
“Nagpapasalamat ho ako sa kanya dahil syempre, tinanggal na ho niya yung post at correspondingly tinanggal ko na rin po yung mga post tungkol sa bagay na ito (I thank him because, of course, he already took down the post, and correspondingly, I also removed my posts about this matter)," Ridon said of the senator.
“Tingin ko malaking bagay na ho yung tinanggal po ni Senator Jinggoy at nagpapasalamat po tayo dyan (I think it's a big deal that Senator Jinggoy took it down, and we are grateful for that)," underscored the party-list solon.
Hernandez--during the infra comm hearing last Sept. 9--implicated Senators Estrada and Villanueva in the flood control projects corruption scandal.
