The Rodriguez Municipal Government is advising residents whose houses lie near the rivers in the municipality to be prepared and alert for possible rise in the water level of rivers due to the release of water from the dam’s reservoir beginning September 13.
The municipal government, in its advisory on its social media page, announced that the Upper Wawa Dam has scheduled a water reduction activity in its reservoir for one to two weeks starting on September 13.
The municipal government said the dam’s project contractor, WawaJVCo Inc., which is a joint venture company between Prime Infrastructure Capital, Inc. and San Lorenzo Ruiz Builders and Developers Group, announced that the release of water from Upper Wawa Dam’s reservoir is part of the preparation for the pre-operation of the dam and the possible inclement weather and heavy rains in the coming days.
Communities located near the rivers are reminded to remain alert and cautious during the duration of the reservoir’s water release which is expected to last approximately one to two weeks.
The ₱26 billion dam project, once it becomes operational by the end of the year, is expected to supply up to 710 million liters of water daily to 3.5 million consumers or around 700,000 households in Rizal Province and nearby areas.
