Korean singer-entertainer Kim Jong-kook joins G-Dragon's agency
Korean singer-entertainer Kim Jong-kook, 49, who got married on Sept. 5, has joined the agency of K-pop artist G-Dragon and parted ways with his manager of 18 years.
Kim Jong-kook, star of the Korean TV show “Running Man,” left his own agency, Turbo JK Company, which he founded in 2012, and joined Galaxy Corporation, which manages G-Dragon and actor Song Kang-ho, Korean media reported.
Choi Yong-ho, CEO of Galaxy Corporation, confirmed that Kim Jong-kook is now under agency.
“We are honored to open a new era of AI entertainment tech with Kim Jong-kook, a multi-entertainer who has achieved tremendous success as a singer in both group and solo activities, and has established a solid position as an entertainer with his own unique personality,” the CEO said, a Korean media outlet reported.
Kim Jong-kook is preparing for the release of his 30th debut anniversary album and concert under Galaxy Corporation.
He also parted ways with his manager, Kim Gap-jin, who had been his manager since 2008. Kim Gap-jin left Turbo JK Company earlier this year and joined K-Tigers Entertainment.
Kim Gap-jin told Korean media outlet Starnews, "It's true that I became independent, but I also briefly worked for K-Tigers for about 15 days. However, I'm producing Rainbow18 independently."
"I still view Kim Jong-kook's work as an agent," he said.
On Kim Jong-kook joining Galaxy Corporation, he said, "Kim Jong-kook is currently overseas for work, so we haven't had a detailed discussion about this. I found out about (his joining Galaxy Corporation) through an article. We'll have to talk again about the direction he will take as an agent going forward."
