The House Infrastructure Committee (infra comm) is eager to work with the newly-formed Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI) in order to get to the bottom of the alleged corruption in government flood control projects once and for all.
Thus, said infra comm overall chairman chairman Bicol Saro Party-list Rep. Terry Ridon on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 11 just hours after news broke out about President Marcos signing of Executive Order (EO) No.94.
"The House Infrastructure Committee supports the creation of the Independent Commission on Infrastructure," Ridon said.
""We look forward to working with the ICI on the investigation of various anomalous infrastructure projects, particularly ghost and substandard flood control projects which are currently the subject of the infra comm’s inquiry," added the lawyer-legislator.
"It is our commitment to work with the ICI to ensure that truth and accountability prevail, that public funds are protected, and that those responsible for anomalous projects are brought to justice," added Ridon.
The infra comm, also known as the tri-committee of the current 20th Congress, has carried out two hearings so far on the flood control projects mess.
The tri-comm is composed of the House Committees on Public Accounts, on Good Government and Public Accountability, and on Public Works and Highways.
These panels are chaired by Ridon, Manila 3rd district Rep. Joel Chua, and Surigao del Sur 1st district Rep. Romeo Momo Sr., respectively.
