Author Jacqueline Dominique Go is back with another breathtaking journey, unveiling the latest installment of her beloved children’s series, "The Adventures of Damgo." In a thrilling new chapter that’s as visually stunning as it is heartwarming, young astronaut Damgo finds himself on a breathtaking new planet.
The second book in the series, “Leon in the Waterworld,” plunges Damgo into a vibrant, unexplored oceanic world teeming with curious and captivating life.
The book’s highly anticipated launch at Book Nook at SM Podium on Aug. 13, 2025, was a joyous celebration of imagination and storytelling. Looking back on the series' humble beginnings, Jacqueline shared her astonishment at its rapid success. The first book was a resounding hit, successfully raising significant funds for Bahay Aruga and giving a powerful platform to the voices of young artists.
“I remember the fear and excitement of publishing the first book, never imagining it would resonate with so many young readers,” she said. “I’m so grateful it's become this beautiful, ongoing series that I get to share with the world.”
Jacqueline also revealed the deep personal connection she has to the series’ hero. “Damgo is more than just a character to me. He’s an extension of my journey,” she explained. “From the very first book to this new one, he’s grown and changed alongside me. His curiosity, bravery, and willingness to learn and adapt mirror my evolution as an author and a person.”
This time around, Jacqueline chose to ground the series' adventures with a timely and vital message. “I wanted to take on the theme of environmental responsibility because it's a conversation we need to have with children now more than ever,” she stated. “Through Damgo's journey to a distant, magical ocean, I hope to show young readers that every action has a ripple effect, and we all have a role to play in protecting our planet.”
Just like the first book, “Leon in the Waterworld” was brought to life through a powerful collaboration with the young artists of Bahay Aruga, a home for pediatric cancer patients. Jacqueline spoke passionately about the experience. “Working with these young artists is the heart and soul of this project,” she shared. “Their creativity and spirit are absolutely infectious, and it’s an honor to give their artistic visions a place on these pages. This collaboration is a reminder that art has the power to heal and inspire, and it’s the most rewarding part of this entire process.”
Jacqueline’s message for her young audience is clear and compelling: “I urge children to look at the world around them with a sense of wonder and curiosity. Ask questions, seek adventures, and always remember that you have the power to be a hero, whether it’s in your own backyard or on a faraway planet.”
Looking to the future, Jacqueline teased that Damgo’s adventures are far from over. “I'm already working on the next book,” she hinted.
