Malabon gov't vows stronger flood measures amid probe on project anomalies

The Malabon City government vowed to strengthen its flood control efforts while supporting investigations into alleged anomalies in government flood projects.
The city government said Wednesday, Sept. 10, that it stands with the national government’s anti-corruption campaign and urged accountability from those behind questionable projects that failed to ease flooding in vulnerable communities.
“We call for accountability, we place our full trust in the national government’s campaign against corruption,” it said.
“We expect those found responsible to face the law, while meaningful reforms are carried out in the agencies concerned,” the city government added.
It added that the city continues to carry out its own flood mitigation programs, such as upgrading pumping stations, constructing drainage channels, and reinforcing floodwalls along rivers.
A drainage master plan is also being implemented to provide long-term solutions.
“We assure everyone that we will not stop until Malabon is safer, stronger, and better prepared against floods. This is our promise to every Malabueño,” it said.
