The Philippines on Wednesday, Sept. 10, deplored the attack in Doha, Qatar, saying it’s a “grave violation” of international law and undermines the sovereignty of the Gulf state.

A statement from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), however, made no mention of Israel, which was responsible for the airstrike that killed five members of the militant group Hamas but failed to kill the targeted negotiating delegation.
“The Philippines deplores the attack in Doha which is a grave violation of international law, particularly the fundamental principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity enshrined in the United Nations Charter,” the statement read.
“The Philippines highlights the need for parties to the conflict in Gaza to agree to an immediate and permanent ceasefire, uphold their obligations under international humanitarian law, ensure the protection of civilians, and work towards a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace in the Middle East,” it added.
The DFA said the Philippine Embassy in Doha “is monitoring the situation and has advised the Filipino community in Qatar to remain calm and follow official advisories,” while also assuring that no Filipinos have been reported affected by the attack as of posting time.
This came amid growing condemnation from key international allies after Israel struck Qatar’s capital of Doha due to the killing of six Israelis and injuring of eight others when two Palestinian gunmen opened fire in a bus stop in Jerusalem.
Qatar is a key United States ally and a mediator in Gaza ceasefire talks.
US President Donald Trump has condemned the attack, while Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani described the attack as “state terrorism.”
