Veteran athletes, casual runners, and newbies join the 2025 Garmin Run Asia Series Philippines which fires off on Oct. 26, in Filinvest City, Alabang, Muntinlupa.
In line with Garmin’s slogan “Beat Yesterday,” the second instalment of the race organized by Hyvesports PH is expected to be bigger and bolder with distances set from 5 kilometers, 10km, to 21km.
From 6,000 participants in its first edition, Garmin sees 8,000 runners in the Philippine leg this year with the event also happening in Indonesia, Taipei, Vietnam, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Japan.
NAVCO president Ryan Tan and Hyvesports CEO Justine Cordero-Em expressed excitement during its media launch at the Vivere Hotel in Alabang Tuesday, Sept. 9.
“What we are as a brand is bigger than yesterday, which means our run this year is definitely bigger and better than what we were last year,” said Tan. “How would that be? There will be more people, festivities, fun and games, and the best showcase of sports technology in the country.”
“We’re trying to beat what we’ve done from last year… we have been the biggest since our launch in 2024, and as a Filipino that is something we can be proud of, we’ll be having a celebration right after the event,” Cordero-Em added.
The organizers are also gearing toward finishing the event as the most organized and the cleanest mass participation event in the world.
Tan, meanwhile, said they are open to the idea of bringing Garmin races to the Visayas and Mindanao in the near future.
“We just don’t think about Metro Manila all the time, we’re thinking about the whole Philippines, and with that we’re expanding our Garmin run club,” Tan said. “We just build the community, and who knows we can build a full-blown event like this in Cebu as well and perhaps in MIndanao, praying for it to happen.”
