Easterlies to continue to bring rain showers, thunderstorms across most parts of the Philippines — PAGASA
The easterlies, or warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, remain the dominant weather system affecting the Philippines, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
Over the next 24 hours, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected to prevail in Bicol Region, Isabela, Aurora, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, and Marinduque.
Metro Manila, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, Palawan, Cavite, Visayas, and Mindanao may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
The rest of Luzon is also likely to see similar conditions due to localized thunderstorms.
While no low-pressure area (LPA) is currently inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), PAGASA weather specialist Loriedin de la Cruz-Galicia noted that a cloud cluster outside the eastern section of the country, near the PAR boundary, has the potential to develop into an LPA within the next 24 to 36 hours.
PAGASA urged the public to stay alert for possible flash floods and landslides, particularly during moderate to heavy rainfall or severe thunderstorms.
Severe thunderstorms typically last up to three hours and may bring intense rain, lightning, strong winds, and occasionally hail.
