Negros Occidental 3rd district Rep. Javier Miguel "Javi" Benitez and Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto crossed paths Tuesday, Sept. 9 during the House Infrastructure Committee (infra comm) hearing.
A Facebook post from Benitez Tuesday night revealed that the two friends managed to "catch up" quickly on the sidelines of the high-profile hearing.
Aside from being two young, promising leaders of the country, Benitez, 30, and Sotto, 36 are also linked by their affiliation with the Mayors for Good Governance, or MAGG.
According to Benitez, the group is a movement of local leaders committed to fighting corruption and building resilient, future-ready communities.
"Mayor Vico is one of M4GG’s convenors, alongside Mayors Benjie Magalong of Baguio, Joy Belmonte of QC, and Sitti Hataman of Isabela," the post read.
Benitez is now considered an alumnus of the movement, having served as a member from 2023 to 2025 during his stint as mayor of Victorias, Negros Occidental.
“M4GG is a movement that we hope will impact more of our country and countrymen in the coming years,” said the neophyte solon in the 20th Congress.
“We live in a time where we see trust in our institutions eroding; and this is why we need the values espoused by M4GG to catch fire on and spark a revolution of good across our archipelago,” he added.
