For his birthday, President Marcos wishes to ensure that no Filipino goes hungry.
Four days before celebrating his 68th birthday, Marcos was asked for his birthday wish. He said his wish remains unchanged: to uplift the lives of all Filipinos, especially the poor.
My birthday wishes haven't really changed from the very beginning until now that I've become President, and that is for every Filipino to have a better life, that we can continue all our projects to help especially those who are poor)," Marcos said in an interview in Phnom Penh, Cambodia before returning to the country on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
He became more specific with his wish, saying that his greatest aspiration is for the Philippines to become a nation where no Filipino goes hungry.
"At ganoon pa rin hindi talaga nagbabago: Sana maabot natin ‘yung aking – at aabutin natin – yung aking pinapangarap na wala ng gutom na Pilipino (And still, it really hasn't changed: I hope we can — and we will — achieve my dream where no Filipino goes hungry)," Marcos said.
In his latest podcast aired on Tuesday night, Marcos also shared that his wish is just simple. He said he wants to finish all of his projects during his administration.
However, considering that he cannot finish everything he wants to achieve within six years, he said he aims to start something the next administration can sustain.
Well, my goals are really quite simple — especially for this administration — to finish everything we’re working on, or… of course, there are many things that really can’t be completed in six years. So I just hope we can at least start them, so that, somehow, the next administration can continue them, because it would be a shame not to, especially since the results have been good),” he said.
In the previous years, the President has been wishing for a better agriculture sector for the country in order to help farmers improve their lives and to sustain the country's food security.
Marcos will celebrate his 68th birthday on Sept. 13.
