“Dili lang kini usa ka merkado. Kini usa ka pamatuod nga ang Danao andam ug lig-on sa bisan unsang panahon (This is not just a market. This symbolizes that Danao is ready and resilient all the time). We are building not just for today but for generations to come,” said Durano.
Durano led a recent site inspection. He was joined by Vice Mayor Ivy Durano and members of the City Council.
Vice Mayor Durano said the marker is described as “smart, green, and resilient.”
The vice mayor explained that the market features a renewable energy system that harnesses clean and sustainable power.
The facility also has a wastewater treatment facility to ensure environmental responsibility.
“The market also features an eco-friendly design, prioritizing green innovation and efficiency and most of all it is a disaster-resilient structure, which means it is typhoon-proof, fire-proof, earthquake-proof. It is built to withstand emergencies, protecting both vendors and consumers,” Vice Mayor Durano said.
The city government said building the new market will have an immense impact on the community impact as it provides a safe and modern trading hub for Danawanons, strengthens local livelihoods by supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises, and serves as a landmark of progress and preparedness.
