Former collegiate star and national team standout Alyssa Solomon appears to have made up her mind on her next destination with Japan looking like her preferred spot.
The 23-year-old Solomon teased her next move on Monday, Sept. 8, after resharing Instagram stories hinting at bringing her talent to Japan.
“Good luck there, Aly,” her Alas Pilipinas teammate Fifi Sharma wrote. “Thank you, Ate!” Solomon wrote on her reposted story caption.
Alas Pilipinas has also expressed its support to the UAAP champion on its social media posts: “Best of luck on your next journey, [Alas Alyssa]. The whole team will be cheering for you."
If the reports would be confirmed official, Solomon would join the ranks of Filipino players who have played in the SV.League alongside former Ateneo aces in Alas Women skipper Jia De Guzman, Maddie Madayag, and Marck Espejo, as well as former NU stars in Jaja Santiago (Sachi Minowa), Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Leo Aringo, and Bryan Bagunas.
An explosive outside hitter, whose roots trace from Sta. Rosa, Laguna, Solomon has won three UAAP titles with the National Lady Bulldogs with the latest coming off back-to-back crowns in Season 87 last May.
Earlier that season, Solomon shared her interest of playing overseas but eventually withdrew her application for the Korean Volleyball Federation (KOVO) Asian Quota Draft due to UAAP eligibility rules.
Before her overseas stint, Solomon opted to skip this year’s Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Rookie Draft, though she was able to suit up for Alas Women in several regional competitions.
