BACOLOD CITY – The body of a 27-year-old woman was found in a sugarcane field in Sitio Bag-ong Dalan Palao 1, Barangay Balintawak, Escalante City, Negros Occidental on Monday, Sept. 8.
Police Lt. Suzennie Ann Legada, administrative officer of Escalante City Police Station, said the victim was last seen alive with her three cousins and their friend in a fiesta Sunday night, Sept. 7.
She asked permission to relieve herself but failed to come back. They looked for her until 2 a.m. Monday.
The victim’s family resumed searching on Monday morning until her mother noticed a pair of slippers that lead her to the body of her daughter.
Police said the victim, a resident of Barangay Washington, Escalante City, sustained a head injury and her underwear was found near his feet. A stone was also found beside her body.
Legada said they could not confirm if the victim was sexually abused unless she is subjected to a post-mortem examination.
Police have persons of interest and investigation is ongoing.
