BACOLOD CITY – The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region recognized the bravery and dedication of a policeman injured in the eye while arresting a 35-year-old man who stabbed a woman in Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental on Sept. 3.
Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, PRO-NIR director, conferred the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting to Police Executive Master Sgt. Niño Noynay, assigned to the Santa Catalina Municipal Police Station, during his visit to the Siliman University Medical Center in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental on Sept. 6.
Despite facing life-threatening circumstances, Noynay remained resolute, exemplifying the true spirit of courage, resilience, and selfless service, according to PRO-NIR.
His steadfast commitment to duty stands as an inspiring example of the values upheld by the Philippine National Police (PNP), it added.
“The recognition not only honors the heroism of the wounded officer but also reinforces the PNP’s collective resolve to uphold service, honor, and justice.”
Noynay was stabbed in the right eye and a major artery was hit, resulting in heavy bleeding.
