Globetrotting Chris Miller picks PBA as last stop

But there are some who had already travelled well around the globe, jumping from one pro league to another before deciding to connect to their roots and settle their remaining playing years in the PBA.
And that was exactly the case, for Chris Miller.
The 6-foot-2 wingman had played around leagues in Europe including stints in Germany, Bosnia and Switzerland in a five-year span. He also played in the Americas in El Salvador and the Dominican Republic before strutting his wares in Asia through Iraq.
Although he has been around the world, Miller said he has been eyeing the PBA for some time now and with his papers finally settled, he felt it was just the perfect time to enter the league.
"I think it's the perfect timing. Everybody's been saying it. But with my age, I do have other offers. I just want to make that known. I do have other offers overseas. I just want to come here and play as many years as I can here in the Philippines to just get in touch with my heritage," said the 32-year-old who is entering his 11th year as a pro.
"I think this is the perfect time to do it," he added.
Miller did show exactly why he's been around the world already, reigning in the three-point shootout during the draft combine, besting Dalph Panopio and JP Cauilan.
He was also a vital cog to his team's finals run in the combine mini-tournament along with LJ Gonzales.
Interestingly, his decision to enter the PBA at this point of his career fits the mold to the path taken by current PBA stars like Stephen Holt of Ginebra and Caelan Tiongson of Rain or Shine.
Another taking the same route this year is Jason Brickman.
Holt entered the league at 31 while Tiongson declared for last season's draft at 32. Brickman is 32.
The difference, however, was the three have been under the radar of some PBA teams even before joining the league. As for Miller, there's not much known about him prior to joining the draft.
But he is far from being fazed.
"I don't care about the radar. I don't care about the hype. I play basketball and my game will speak for itself. I don't need all of that," said Miller.
"I'm too old to care about that. We play basketball games. I play to win. I play hard. And whatever team that drafts me, we'll see that. I don't care about the hype or the, you know, whatever people say. Doesn't faze me." he stressed.
