Police Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo
Former spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo was also sacked as head of the Directorate for Comptrollership in another revamp since the change of leadership in the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Earlier, Fajardo was relieved as PNP spokesperson and was replaced by Police Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño who also heads the Public Information Office (PIO).
Aside from Tuaño, acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr. earlier said he would also speak on policy statements, make announcements and other important matters on behalf of the police organization.
Fajardo served as spokesperson for former PNP chiefs Benjamin Acorda, Rommel Francisco Marbil and Nicolas Torre III, who is currently on leave.
In an order dated Sept. 6, Fajardo was replaced by Maj. Gen. Westrimundo Obinque as head of the Directorate for Comptrollership.
Obinque is the last few members of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) in the PNP. He and Nartatez are members of the PMA Class 1992.
Fajardo, on the other hand, was moved to the Area Police Command-Eastern Mindanao along with Brig. Gen. Leon Victor Rosete.
Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Christopher Birung will replace Obinque as head of the National Police Training Institute.
Last week, Nartatez gave a go signal to implement a modified resolution of the National Police Commission reshuffling some police officers, particularly in the position of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the Police Regional Office 12, the Police Regional Office-Calabarzon and the Highway Patrol Group.
