Animal welfare group mourns death of dog 'Tiktok' from car accident
BACOLOD CITY – Bach Project PH mourned the death of rescued dog “Tiktok” from a car accident on Sunday, Sept. 7.
“We don’t know how to put this into words. Today, we lost Tiktok in a tragic accident while she was in foster care,” the local animal welfare group said in a social media post.
The group reported that Tiktok slipped out, ran, and was hit by a car. “It was so sudden, and even now, it feels impossible to accept,” they added.
The group shared that Tiktok was fostered because their shelter is battling distemper, and they wanted to protect her and keep her safe.
“She was given love and comfort in a foster home, but fate dealt a cruel hand,” the group said.
She was supposed to be safe. She was supposed to have more time. The ‘what ifs’ are endless, and the pain of losing her is unbearable, it added.
Tiktok’s body will be cremated at Green Meadows Pet Aftercare-Pet Cremation in Negros Occidental on Monday, Sept. 8.
“We grieved deeply, and the pain is heavy. Rescue work is full of heartbreaks, and this is one of the hardest we’ve faced,” the group said.
“As rescuers, we carry so much guilt when tragedies like this happen, even when we know we did our best,” the group added.
Tiktok, who was injured by five dart arrows in Murcia, Negros Occidental in February, made a full recovery and recently joined the Athlerun Pawtection Run 2025, crossing the finish line.
“We ask for your understanding as we go through this painful time, and we invite you to remember Tiktok with us,” the group said.
