BACOLOD CITY – An 11-year-old boy was killed by a lightning strike in Barangay Tinampa-an, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on Saturday, Sept. 6.
Police Lt. Col. John Joel Batusbatusan, Cadiz City police chief, said the victim, a Grade 6 pupil, was playing with other children near a cotton fruit tree at the back of his house when a thunderstorm occurred.
The victim was struck by lightning and brought to a hospital, where he was declared dead. His companions were unharmed.
Batusbatusan said the incident was only reported by the victim’s mother on Sunday morning, Sept. 7.
