Rider dies in road crash after raincoat gets caught in motorcycle wheel

A 22-year-old rider died in a collision with a van in Antipolo City on Friday, Sept. 5, after losing control of his motorcycle when his raincoat allegedly got caught in its wheel.
Based on the initial investigation of the Antipolo City Component Police Station (CCPS), the victim, identified as “Junior,” on board his motorcycle that was reportedly loaded with fresh chicken, was traveling along Kapatagan Road toward Marcos Highway at around 6:05 a.m.
At the same time, the van, driven by “Ramel,” was approaching from the opposite direction.
Upon reaching the place of the incident, authorities said the hem of the victim's raincoat allegedly got caught in the rear wheel of his motorcycle, causing him to lose control and veer into the opposite lane. The incident resulted in a head-on collision with the van.
Due to the impact, they said the victim sustained a serious head injury and was immediately brought to Cabading Hospital. However, he was declared dead on arrival at around 7:25 a.m.
Authorities said that the van's driver is currently detained.
