Over 2,000 Baseco Compound residents now members of PhilHealth - Mayor Isko
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso announced that more than 2,000 residents of Baseco Compound have become PhilHealth members following the opening of the much-awaited President Corazon Aquino General Hospital (Baseco Hospital) on Friday, Sept. 5.
Domagoso expressed his gratitude to Baseco's barangay health workers (BHWs), who tirelessly worked for almost three weeks to ensure that the residents will receive the proper health and wellness services they need.
"Sa ating mga kababayan sa Baseco, ito ang dahilan kung bakit nagpapaikot kami ng mga BHW sa inyong barangay. Sa oras ng aberya, hindi na kayo masyadong mag-aasikaso ng requirements kasi automatic member na kayo ng PhilHealth. Ang intindihin n'yo na lang ay ang inyong mga mahal sa buhay na nakaratay (To the people of Baseco, this is why we are sending BHWs to your barangay. In times of trouble, you won't have to worry about fulfilling requirements anymore because you are now automatically a member of PhilHealth. All you have to do now is to take care of your loved ones who are bedridden)," he explained, reiterating that his administration’s primary focus is providing the people with their “minimum basic needs” such as housing, education, healthcare, and jobs.
"Nakakatuwang isipin, I think, sa buong Pilipinas, pwede kong masabi, na ito lang ang barangay na may sariling ospital. This hospital may serve at least 80,000 people, from Intraport to Baseco. 'Yan, isang kembot niyo lang (It's nice to think about that this is the only barangay in the Philippines that has its own hospital. This hospital may serve at least 80,000 people, from Intraport to Baseco. You won't need to go far anymore just to be given proper healthcare)," Domagoso said.
The P100-million facility, located inside Baseco Compound in Barangay 649., is the 7th public hospital funded and operated by the city government.
