CEBU CITY – At least 16 gun-for-hire groups in Central Visayas were dismantled in the first eight months of this year, the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) reported.
Eighteen were arrested and 12 members were killed in police operations. Thirty-five firearms and two grenades were seized.
Dismantled were the Nadera, Gido, Tañeza, Manoy, Yllaya, Garciano, Caballero, Marapoc, Bobong, Rusiana, Darryl, Llatona, Cose, Pocaba, Comaling, and Ybañez Groups.
“Neutralizing these groups will be a victory of not just the police but also the community that has long been threatened by the menace of these groups,” Police Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, PRO-7 chief, said.
Maranan added that they remain steadfast in their mission to protect the people of Central Visayas.
“We urge the public to remain vigilant and united with us in this fight,” added Maranan.
